Cheese!

Molly loves the camera and now gets upset if we don't let here see the picture right after it's taken.  Her latest thing is to say "Cheese" and give the toothiest smile possible:
Cheese!

Molly and I have been working on organizing and setting up her playroom.  I want to hang a shelf or two and some artwork but I'm pretty excited about how it's coming along.  Molly loves spending time in there with all of her toys!

Moving Out and Moving In

It's official!  All loaded up (including our cars) and ready to make our move out West.  Arizona, here we come!
After a week of hotel living we are eager to get into our home
As we were unpacking the kitchen Shane asked,"do we really need all these dishes!" Of course not, silly. But I WANT to keep them ALL!
More boxes to unpack...
Our Little Helper!  Molly was all to eager to get her hands on the screwdriver after watching Shane's handyman skills in action!
After a week of unpacking (our stuff arrived in Arizona on Monday) I'm happy to report that I have uncovered the kitchen counters and table.  Hooray for small victories!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

One of the things we love most about summer is having a garden. I wouldn't say that we are avid gardeners who spend hours a day digging in the dirt, but the reward of delicious home grown vegetable is motivation enough for us to water regularly and pull the occasional weed. This year we planted a couple of new things including corn, broccoli, and asparagus (which takes two years). Here's to a bountiful harvest!

Kitchen Organization

We like to cook and we collect a lot of spices for our hobby.  Unfortunately, we don't have extra cupboard space for said spices and after they'd taken up over 2 shelves I knew I needed to come up with a better alternative.  I bought little craft jars with screw on lids (the kind used to hold tiny beads), and I glued magnets to the bottom.  All of our spices are now housed on our refrigerator within easy reach of the stove. They are clearly labeled and even placed in alphabetical order.  You can buy spice jars with magnets on them for $3- $5 dollars a jar, but I made all of mine for less than $15!  And those 2 shelves that I was using for spices?  Don't worry they only sat empty long enough for me to clean them!

Broken Camera won't ruin our Spring!

It finally feels like spring around here and we are spending as much time outside as possible. Last weekend we got a table and chairs for our patio but because of rain we didn't test them out until yesterday.  Once we sat down to our BBQ feast and tried to document the moment with a photo our camera went all crazy adding in all kinds of stripes, blurs, and colors.  Off to the repair shop for you, dear camera. Hopefully it will make a speedy return!

Handyman Extraordinaire!

While I was in Utah playing, Shane was back home busy at work with a surprise of his own.  My amazing handyman husband put up crown molding in our living room- a project we've been talking about doing for a couple of years.  When I got home I could tell something was different, but I couldn't figure out what it was.  Everything on the shelves looked a little bit off, our couch pillows were in disarray, and it looked like there were a few pieces of confetti scattered around.  (Not that this was a big deal, but it every time I talked to him on the phone he was tidying the house so I expected it to be really clean.)  I asked him if he'd had a party or something and he seemed really secretive and a bit smug as he pointed to the top shelves and pointed out how he'd dusted everything, even up close to the ceiling.  I still didn't get it and he finally had to tell me that he'd put up crown molding.  He did such an amazing job that it fits right in.  I love it!  Thanks sweetie!  What project should we do next?

O Christmas Tree!

We love Christmas and have been having fun decorating our house for the holidays.  There's something serene to be found in the warm glow of the Christmas tree lights that speaks peace to my soul.  I hope you, too, will enjoy the occasional quiet moments during the hustle and bustle of the season and feel the true joy of this beautiful Christmas holiday.

Sewing!

Shane was out of town a couple days last week and I was caught up with my seminary lessons and somewhat on my sleep, so I got to do some sewing.  My friend gave me this darling pattern to cross stitch (which I actually started last Sept...augh!!!).  I was able to finish it pretty quickly, pick up some Halloween fabric, and put this pillow together.  Happy October!

Conference Weekend

We love conference weekend and this one was even better because we had family in town!  We had the best weekend together...Our football teams won, we shopped like crazy, we ate lots of yummy food, and we even got some exercise walking up and down the stairs with Preslee every chance she got!  But best of all we enjoyed being together!  Thanks for coming Todd, Tam, and Preslee!

Cucumber Alert!

Our garden is being overtaken by cucumbers!  While we enjoy a good cucumber now and again we’re running out of ways to eat them.  Vinegar cucumbers makes a refreshing side but gets a little old after serving it 3 days in a row!  Please share your ideas before we run into a cucumber emergency!!!
